I don't talk much about music on the other site, but why not start here. Anyway, the YouTube algorithm (see, not *all* algorithms are bad) served this up for me last night, and this is an astoundingly good jazz cover of the Beatles. I'm a fan of Grace, but had never seen this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EvYw0OEVXNk

I built this tool a year ago but I feel like Mastodon folks would like it

The "Weird Old Book Finder"

Type in a search query, and it'll find one randomly-chosen public-domain book that matches the query -- and present it for immediate reading: https://weird-old-book-finder.glitch.me

Why only one book? To prevent the paradox of choice! Just *start readin'*

Can't promise every book will be weird, but most are

This was a search for "mastodon"

The Programmers’ Credo: we do these things not because they are easy, but because we thought they were going to be easy.

Good morning, Mastoworld. Enjoy a giant steampunk robot elephant. These are from the Isle of Machines in Nantes, that uses old shipbuilding tech to make marvels. #SomethingBeautiful

In my opinion, criticisms of mastodon being unusable by the general public are over blown.

@plgDavid I'm sure you know about the DECtalk source dumps and people doing interesting stuff with it, but if you don't... Might be fun for a chipspeech thingy, even though you've already got DKlatt.

#FediTips If you need general help on here, whether it's asking about how something works, or where a specific feature is, or general technical help using mastodon and understanding the Fediverse, use the #FediHelp tag. People keep an eye on it to catch users asking for help so that they can respond. <3

TIP OF THE DAY

If your instance server is having a hard time right now, don't freak out.

You do not need to change servers. Mastodon is getting a huge influx of new users and they are all working tirelessly to add capacity. If you are otherwise happy with your instance, trust that they will get things working smoothly. Give them some time to sort things out.

We're all in this together. It's our social network. Be patient. What we are building is amazing.
