I gave #linkedin an honest try, for a year or more, in terms of finding #work.
It's a cesspool of #toxicpositivity and fake job postings.
Now I'm asking, with all urgency -- to anyone who has anything #tech to offer, please consider a guy who has:
- 30 yrs of experience
- out of work for 20 months
- 3 kids, one of who is coming up on her first birthday
- a track record for secure systems
- a month left before being evicted
AI images and wastefulness
AI image synthesis is inherently wasteful. As we all know but often ignore, anything called AI today consumes enormous energy resources and computing power, and it relies on the mass exploitation of human labor on a planetary scale. But increasingly, AI images themselves have also become a kind of visual waste, contaminating the web with fake content, cheap clickbait, and neo-fascist propaganda. Amazon, for example, has been flooded with scammy children’s picture books entirely generated with AI tools. From the point of view of their developers, wastefulness, however, is less a bug than a feature of these tools ...

Modern work:
you get a message in Slack with a link to the Confluence doc to prep for the meeting on Zoom, where you take notes in Notion, and track project progress on Monday and then update the Trello and you get to the end of the week and instead of doing fucking anything you've just moved bits of information around in 17 different databases and each one costs $15 a month per user...
@Leviatar Aquí hemos venido a jugar. xD
@Leviatar Más hilos como estos, por favor. Me ha encantado. :)
Siempre he tenido problemas para entender algunos conceptos si no se hace con dibujines, marionetas o con la claridad que tú lo has hecho. :)

A veces España consigue no dar asco.

@blasbenito Thanks for the info!
Those packages are incredible. Well, the tsunami led by Hadley Wickham some years ago has made R a jewel for data exploration.
Looks like a great project. Congrats!
@blasbenito Wow! And I thought that my little workflows were a bit overwhelming... xD
More evidence on targets being an incredible package.
For curiosity's sake, did you run the workflow using any HPC or parallel infrastructure? Using crew?
