I'm a bit stunned and dejected even though I know this happens. Sigh. 😞
Summary statement is in. Maybe I’m reading too much into it, but it feels like the reviewers would have scored the grant much higher if the PIs were mid-career dudes. 🫤

I mean, nobody has more pertinent experience and publications than you do for the work you propose! Even at its most benign this sounds like a special case of, "we'd be more likely to conclude that this project is feasible if you had included the results of the proposed project as preliminary data …"
