New to Mastodon. I am a huge fan of open source. I am curious as to how people are funding the hosting of larger Mastodon servers. It seems that it would cost quite a bit to run servers with more than a couple hundred active users. I applaud them for making a community resource.
Makes me wonder how it will scale to mass adoption, assuming that is what the community wants.

@ericlawrey I have accounts on a couple of other instances, and they seem to be using services like Patreon, Venmo, Paypal, and others I don't recognize that I assume must be international.
