Important life lesson OTD: Never abandon a project just because somebody else "beat you to it" and made something similar.
When people finish enjoying that other thing, they'll want more similar things, and turn to yours. And being able to say "It's like X, but does Y differently" makes it really easy for them to recommend it to fans of the other thing!
