Thanks! One thing about Panflute: I think it’s obsolete now, in a sense. I mean, it will continue to work, and you can use it if you have a deep need to use Python. But Pandoc has evolved to have native support for filters written in Lua, and they should be much, much faster than Python filters. That’s because Lua filters can operate directly on Pandoc’s internal data structures, while for Python filters to work, that needs to be serialized into LSON and then de-serialized back into the Pandoc AST. I have a vague plan to convert my filters into Lua, and I should add a note to my article with this.
