Yesterday I tried upgrading from Mobian stable to testing.
Today I just finished re-installing Mobian, because many packages were in testing for a reason, and some weren't there at all (like Geary). Neither camera wanted to open, my modem crashed more frequently, and on and on.
I got a chance to remember the best way to set up a Pinephone Pro though at least :)
At this point my hard req's are Sleepwalk (specifically, this [0] exact PR) setting the modem volume correctly [1], updating the modem & ADSP firmware with Biktorgj's amazing work [2], and adding a few lines to my MOTD when connecting via SSH to give me hostname (with Figlet), system load, battery percentage, and storage used.

Then after signing back into my email, Matrix, Syncthing, Nextcloud, and Firefox account, Mobian with Phosh is suitable for reliable, daily use.
To the point I've stopped carrying my previous BlackBerry KeyOne.
Who would have seriously predicted 2023 would be an actual answer to "Year of (or Return of) the Linux cellphone"

I am curious what you are using as a matrix client. I am using neochat, and I think in the 23.12 update it will improve quite a bit, but right now it is not pleasurable.
I have been using #chatty on #postmarketos and #pureos and while I was surprised how well it works it was having trouble getting the decryption keys for peer to peer conversations. Have either of you worked around this issue or found a client that dies that okay? I tried #neochat last year but it was really buggy, could be that the repo on #postmarketos is old, like I have wanted to try #geany 2.0 on mobile but the repo still only has 1.3x -- I have been thinking of trying #mobian on #librem5 -- would people say that its the most popular distro currently?

Thank you, I am very impressed how far they've come, linux mobile is definately getting to a place where I could live with it software wise, a lot of my experiences sound similar to yours, phosh while not perfect is very doable on #librem5 and #librem11. I have #plasmamobile too to keep an eye on at KDE things and I have show stoppers like the sound isnt working on #postmarketos + plasmamobile
@lorendias @kosmosghost I actually had to check, because past the initial setup, I haven't had any issues.
Looking back, the one-to-one messages I recieved (prior to doing the emoji verification) that couldn't be decrypted still haven't been, but after doing the emoji verification (Chatty with Element Web in my case) I stopped having any issues.
I did go through Element Web and manually verify every (recognized) device I could though, to make sure everything could sync
