I need a cool person to explain nomenclature to me. What does it mean to “leave a message on read"? Does that indicate that a recipient has read receipts turned on and you can see they've consumed the message, but have elected not to reply? Or is this a misinterpretation of leaving a message "unread"(the grammatically sound phrasing, btw) in which case you send someone a message and you can see they haven't opened it? And further, can we strike this phrase and the reply culture from our lives?
@superbetsy I assumed you’d misheard “unread” when I saw this, but now I’m wondering what I’m missing, too. If it does mean “unread,” I do this when I need to come back to something because I don’t have time to absorb it right now. Marking unread gives me a chance to look at it with fresh eyes later. (Of course, this could all be moot if it really is “on read!”)
@bgannin @superbetsy Aha! Thanks for clarifying. My husband did this to me today, in fact. 😂
@lorihc @bgannin I finally saw it written in the trashy book I’m reading and I was like, “okay now what on earth does THIS mean.” These kids with their words all on my lawn.
