@sanguish If you are in water lock, press and hold the crown to exit. You can enter water lock manually in control center if necessary.

iOS 17 beta 3 and watchOS 10 beta 3 are out! If you are not being offered watchOS 10 beta 3, go to the Watch app on your phone, choose General > Software Update, and toggle Beta Updates Off and then on (watchOS 10 Developer Beta) again. Toggling this setting works around a bug and points your device at the correct catalog going forward (the bug is fixed in Seed 3, so you shouldn’t need to do this after installing Seed 3).

For those that have adopted App Intents in their apps, or are considering it: What are the main frustrations / limitations you have hit? FB numbers are great, but in this case not required!

I hope that there is still room for idealists, who think we can and should still strive for a government for the people and by the people. Real change is slow and generational, it isn't flashy, it's hard work.

I don't know exactly how to celebrate my country right now, but I'll raise my glass repeatedly to the people who are still trying when it feels hopeless, to the true patriots who fight for human rights and not corporate greed.

There is goodness in the world, even if it doesn't always feel like it, so I'll celebrate courageous acts of kindness, people who defend those who cannot defend themselves, people who stand up when others tell them to sit down, thank you for your service.

America was founded on the promise of freedom and equal rights for all.

In reality, this has always been unevenly applied. Freedom is a constant battle, and everyone’s rights are FAR from equal.

The most American thing we can do is to keep pushing hard for freedom, liberty, and truly equal rights for EVERYONE.

@viticci Oh, drat. Curious to see if it ends up being convenient for you to move your most-used apps to the top of the grid.

He was like „funny that“ and I said „well actually…“ and told him the reason: that we lost 90% of the generation that would be 50+ by now to the aids pandemic and many of the surviving 10% never came out.

You should have seen his face.
He just gave a soft „oh“ and there was SO MUCH compassion in his face.

So I fully expect a septuagenarian ally among my very queer bass group in the next weeks. 🥰

Also: today I saw this post on Instagram and that is what I‘m talking about:

42 years ago today, the NYT published its first coverage of what would be the AIDS epidemic. It would be difficult to overstate the centrality of And the Band Played On to my personal and professional development in health politics and public health research. I wish we’d learned more lessons from this period, but am grateful to be able to teach this important but painful history to my students.

@Amy Are you having trouble? If so the Xcode team would love a Feedback with a sysdiagnose from the Mac.

@squizzleflip I think a fundamental part of leadership is making sure everyone gets a say.

LoriHC boosted

@briannawu Something I admire leaders doing is noticing this happening and saying "Hang on, B; A is trying to say something, let them speak." I often let people talk over me, but find it easier to speak up for others

@briannawu
Honestly, as AMAB, I think you have it reversed.

>> Interjecting, “can I please finish,” is the best I have.

This, we "find" bitchy - it is NOT, but it really grates :(

>> Raising your voice and repeating until they stop is aggressive and bitchy.

Is aggressive (and probably deserved). But is categorically NOT bitchy.

>> Letting them say whatever, totally ignoring, and starting over from the beginning also works but is super bitchy.

NOT #bitchy. Or #aggressive

A rising tide lifts all boats, but this is still goot news -worthy of amplifying: “A strong labor market benefits all workers -so Black workers have certainly benefited -there're more opps. available" -C Rouse, fmr chair of Pres Biden’s Council of Econ. Advisers. “What one would hope is that Black workers & Black women, esp., will be better protected if & when we see softening in the labor market. Historically, Black workers are in a more precarious position.” #BlackWomen washingtonpost.com/business/20

Today we celebrate the 110th birthday of Bibha Chowdhuri, a particle physicist from India. She discovered mesons, and also worked on experimental observation of muons. Despite these remarkable achievements she remains in obscurity. #WomenInScience #ParticlePhysics en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bibha_Ch

For those of you with an Apple Watch Ultra: you have a water temperature sensor on your wrist and it’s easy to use once you know a little trick.

The Depth app will take a reading if you go deeper than 3 ft. The length of the “dive” doesn’t matter.

(In my swim watch face, I have the Depth complication setup in the upper right corner.)

After I end an ocean swim, I do quick reading and it gets recorded in the Health app. (Today was a little chilly!)

Thanks to @lorihc for clueing me onto this!

@ryan @thattridentdude I think it’s the negotiating chit that some folks think they need to get their concern attended to. It usually produces the opposite effect, tho sometimes I ignore the petulance and just answer the question because it’ll help others who see the response.

@thattridentdude That was more a general commentary on the tone of some bug reports and forum posts. Not sure why folks feel the need to include an implicit or explicit threat in their request for help or change.

@whatthecj @viticci Thanks for letting us know! I wonder if that migration broke at some point before Seed 1, because it was definitely working prior to that.
