All these red states are now boasting about how they are withdrawing from the American Library Association. They aren’t just satisfied with banning books, they want to get rid of the places that keep and lend them, too. The Christian Right is on the march.
Carl Sagan once warned us of the “dumbing down” of America. He warned of a time when our “critical faculties in decline, unable to distinguish between what feels good and what's true, we slide, almost without noticing, back into superstition and darkness...”
That time is upon us. We must do all we can to prevent that darkness from taking hold.
Please stand with us on Tuesday for real change on our streets.
This is a moment where we must be loud.

You might not think water is a big issue in Hawaii -- but fresh water is a precious and constrained resource on these islands. Big farming companies have taken water rights from Natives -- and this also impacts the diverse ecologies where fresh water flows to the sea.
Hard fought political fights won some of those rights back in the 90s-- but now those same companies are using the fire as an excuse to roll back the clock.

When a 26-year-old Deputy Mayor proposed a 1977 plan that made the centre of Groningen virtually impenetrable by car, his party was the subject of outrage, protests and death threats.
Decades later, no one regrets the change or remembers the controversy.
Fortune favours the brave.
Somebody asked me recently if I feel like I'm pouring out a million thoughts in a rush when I'm writing. No, I said, it's more like when you're squeezing really thick frosting out of a piping bag and you're slooooooowly pushing it out and trying to make designs that look half-decent on your cake but the frosting keeps getting stuck and you have to constantly squash it while also attempting to be artful.
The IRA provided funding to the IRS, & it's paying off for law-abiding taxpayers:
-Cleared backlog of 2022 returns
-Took 3M more calls & cut wait times
-Recovered $38M from 175 delinquent millionaires
-Working on direct file pilot
*Reminder, Republicans want to defund the IRS: Clawing back these new resources is a 1st-order priority for some Republicans, who've already successfully pushed to take back a 1/4 of these funds in the debt ceiling deal. #GOPCorruption

@GeekAndDad @chockenberry I would expect that to work with the sysdiagnose profile. If you don’t see your oslogs when that profile is installed, it be helpful to know.
@GeekAndDad @chockenberry That is the list of profiles. Which one is missing?
@chockenberry Not unnecessary if you think of it as a feature request.
@chockenberry Logging is turned off on customer builds of watchOS unless you have a logging profile installed (this is why we often ask developers to install sysdiagnose—or sometimes more specific—profiles when filing feedback for watchOS).
I love* how much #disaster preparedness starts with "have money."
I also love* how many people who give disaster advice completely ignore how much money they are actually talking about.
I _really_ love* all of the people with no experience in disasters confidently talking about this as if it were something they had done a thousand times.
* not actually
I remember the 2000 Election. There were enough votes for Ralph Nader to hand the election to George W. Bush.
I remember the 2016 Election. There were enough votes for Jill Stein to hand the election to Donald Trump.
In 2024 the Green Party is running Cornell West. Let’s not repeat this history, friends
Your vote is not a marriage. You’re not choosing a life partner. It’s a chess move for what’s best for the country and the world.
I have these personal victories sometimes where I know something big or important happened because of me (even if I wasn’t the only one working on it, or the person who actually delivered the thing), and it reminds me a bit of when I’m playing hockey and I know that the reason a goal happened was because of something I set in motion, even if I don’t get credit for the assist. Some NHL color announcers do a really good job of diagramming how a play came together for TV broadcast, so that fans can understand that it’s not just about points, but team play. There aren’t any color commentators at my level of hockey, and there certainly aren’t any at work, but I know. And often that has to be—and is—enough.
3. If you want your app intent to always run in your app, you can:
- implement openAppWhenRun, in which case it'll foreground your app OR
- implement AudioIntent, LiveActivityIntent or ForegroundContinuableIntent in which case it'll run in your app, but run in the background.
