There are updated runtimes for iOS, watchOS, and tvOS as well. The latest visionOS runtime is still the Beta 2 runtime from July 25th

All these red states are now boasting about how they are withdrawing from the American Library Association. They aren’t just satisfied with banning books, they want to get rid of the places that keep and lend them, too. The Christian Right is on the march.

Carl Sagan once warned us of the “dumbing down” of America. He warned of a time when our “critical faculties in decline, unable to distinguish between what feels good and what's true, we slide, almost without noticing, back into superstition and darkness...”

That time is upon us. We must do all we can to prevent that darkness from taking hold.

You might not think water is a big issue in Hawaii -- but fresh water is a precious and constrained resource on these islands. Big farming companies have taken water rights from Natives -- and this also impacts the diverse ecologies where fresh water flows to the sea.

Hard fought political fights won some of those rights back in the 90s-- but now those same companies are using the fire as an excuse to roll back the clock.

Somebody asked me recently if I feel like I'm pouring out a million thoughts in a rush when I'm writing. No, I said, it's more like when you're squeezing really thick frosting out of a piping bag and you're slooooooowly pushing it out and trying to make designs that look half-decent on your cake but the frosting keeps getting stuck and you have to constantly squash it while also attempting to be artful.

I love* how much #disaster preparedness starts with "have money."

I also love* how many people who give disaster advice completely ignore how much money they are actually talking about.

I _really_ love* all of the people with no experience in disasters confidently talking about this as if it were something they had done a thousand times.
