We introduce a TON of new feature in App Intents. One huge one is the ability to build user-configurable Widgets with App Intents instead of SiriKit! No more definition files, just pure, beautiful code. It's super slick and _so much_ easier than it was before. Please give it a shot! It pairs really well with interactive buttons in Widgets, which are also built with App Intents.

Bad senior engineers think that interns should only write test code. Good senior engineers put interns on simpler tasks with no supervision. Very good senior engineers put interns on hard problems and guide them the whole time.

Interns aren't there to save the company money in the short term, they're there to grow the next round of junior engineers to hire.

Oh, and something I learned in my session that I'll mention here in case it helps save anyone else from a bit of confusion. To adopt the new watchOS 10 layout and design changes you really should be using a NavigationStack rather than a NavigationView. Otherwise, lots of things will not work quite as expected.

Also, it is very common that during your discussion in a Lab you will run into things where there is either a bug in the beta framework or you discover something you'd like to do but isn't currently possible.

When this happens write it down and file a Feedback as soon as you can. Getting the feedbacks filed in this early stage of the Beta cycle maximizes the likelihood that your concern will be able to be addressed before the public release this fall.

It is really interesting (and clever) how Apple is now encouraging consistency between complications through publishing a collection of recommended layout families. Back in the ClockKit days the complication families were programmatically enforced, which constrained what was possible in terms of visual design. This approach of strong recommendations but retaining complete implementation flexibility seems like a great compromise.

Remember the UIApplicationSupportsIndirectInputEvents info.plist key we introduced with iOS 13.4, iPadOS 13.4 and Mac Catalyst Catalina? Remember the part where I said, "In a future release, the default will change...". Welp, this is the release! 🎉🎉🎉

In iOS 17.0, iPadOS 17.0, and Mac Catalyst Sonoma, we are making the following changes:

1. Apps build against those SDKs or later and do _not_ have the UIApplicationSupportsIndirectInputEvents key will have indirect input event support enabled

2. Apps build against those SDKs or later and _do_ have the UIApplicationSupportsIndirectInputEvents key present will have its value honored (either YES or NO) for now
