Having major cravings to get back into game dev...

@Shiroyasha find like-minded people and collaborate on a successful title?

@lucifargundam Yeah, that would be smart. I always think I need to do everything myself.
@lucifargundam Just my own dumb projects. I get to game art and run out of steam.
@lucifargundam I did a touhou clone for phone. Got to the level design/art part and stopped. But would like to do a game like Zelda link to the past someday or a game like stronghold.
@Shiroyasha @lucifargundam >But would like to do a game like Zelda link to the past someday

I played an MMO called Graal Online for many years and it was very much inspired by Link to the Past, but there was also emphasis on user-created content and dev tools. The game is very dead now. They had a GNU/Linux client years before Steam even did, but it got abandoned and after a while it couldn't connect to their servers. I would kill for a free software game in the same spirit. It was incredibly depressing seeing players in-game and on the forums who were helpless to save the game because they weren't devs or admins and all the people in power were just not really involved anymore.

(I know I posted about this once before on here, so sorry if it was to you last time as well, heh)
@lucifargundam @Shiroyasha The domain should just be https://graalonline.com/ so that other one seems a bit suspicious to me, but looks pretty much the same. The site layout is a little weird, all the options essentially just theme the site differently and show off different game servers, but go to the same downloads. "playerworlds" is the most normal-looking one, showing the default art and tiles used by most servers.
@brad @lucifargundam Woah! everything has been already done I guess. Never saw that before.
@Shiroyasha @lucifargundam It's pretty old. I've heard it was called Zelda Online in the 90s, but they got in trouble and renamed. I think I started playing around 2006 or so.
@brad @lucifargundam I'd like to do an mmo ideally but I have no idea how to have it have a good economy and discourage gold farmers. Seems impossible.

@Shiroyasha @brad might have to talk to professional game devs about that. That's something that sounds like it requires either a lot of exp or a lot of research.

@lucifargundam @brad They just do pay them to win instead and it ruins the games.
