USPS scanned most of the mail/packages that it handles and keeps copies of them that can be accessed later.

In addition to this, the USPS offers services like 'informed delivery' which contacts individuals (not necessarily the intended owners) of mail that is delivered as well as pictures of them. These notifications are sent via email by default but some offer by txt msg notifications as well.
