after more reading it's interesting to me how much the anime cut out
I guess they were optimising for the best season 1 they could do given how unlikely it is for an anime to get a second season
but all the incident files that have no clear resolution - the UBL research lab, the AP-1 trip, etc - the ones that are more worldbuilding than scary stories, they're all cut out

it works surprisingly well given it's taking a knife to the story but it's just such a ... weird decision to make it harder to understand the overall story in order to make season 1 cleaner

otherside picnic is "cute girls do /x/ things" and I approve

and I finished the books
