Where did the "building a computer naked for ESD control" meme come from? The earliest references I could find were MegaTokyo #70 (2001), and obviously Serial Experiments Lain (1998). Not sure if it's earlier than that, perhaps already an in-joke since a long time ago before Lain.

Probably goes back to the heyday hacker times of the 80s with people drinking and smoking around a modem while eating pizza, hoping the feds wouldn't catch onto them...
