@Soy_Magnus @matrix @josh The fact that instances are allowed to gate keep is one of the best things about federation. The biggest barrier to the fediverse's success is not belligerent instances, but the lack of education and marketing around the way federation works and its benefits. You cannot have a free network without local gatekeeping and curation, as the ability to do these things are a part of what it means for the network to be free.
If the public is unable to even tolerate the existence of anti-social groups, then all hope of freedom is already lost.

I would not recommend using Intel CPUs for compiling Rust. The binary that comes out technically correct, but lacks the warmth and POPCNT that the AMD CPUs can generate. The binary code layering that you can achieve on a 32-core AMD 6969 Ryzen has a completely different level of opcode detail resolution, especially the branching is noticeably smooth (your average amateur might not notice subtle differences when a processor executes 4 billion instructions per second anyway, but true codeophiles will).
Important: make sure you use high-quality shielded gold-plated USB cables to connect your keyboard when typing the code -- no matter how sophisticated the CPU you use to compile, the result will be bad if the input was distorted.

@jeffcliff Even if there was a legally actionable threat of violence posted on the forum, how does taking the forum down either eliminate or mitigate the danger?
@ggf @josh It is completely frustrating how vague all of their statements about this is. They both allege the existence of clandestine legal processes that tacitly justify their lack of disclosure and provide no evidence of their existence or of the threat they are meant to address. They do this all the while pointing out that due process is not being served.
