@sarahjelm @education @edutooter @edutooters @socialscience @politicalscience #PISA is interesting. But I wonder, how on earth did #OECD of all organizations become the ones that decide how we should measure and compare education efficacy? What is their expertise in the field, and how and when did they acquire it? What is their agenda, their view on which metrics are useful for comparisons, and which are not? What weight do they attribute to different aspects of knowledge and abilities?

@mapto @sarahjelm @education @edutooter @edutooters @socialscience @politicalscience And why are OECD promoting the PISA tests, adding their weight behind them? The huge importance countries are giving to the tests likely have an impact on their education policies, and even goals.

Measuring is good, but to uncritically rely on a too narrow scope, and single philosophy and methodology could be problematic. Are there any alternatives to the PISA that offer other insights and perspectives?
