@fediforum personal tension between admins leading to defederation that propagates on block lists?

@0atman @fasterthanlime well, probably organising protests is not exactly a secret? Otherwise people can't show up. In places where it's dangerous to protest, other forms of resistance might be more adequate. Just sharing my experience.

To me it's just probably the best article of the month. To someone else it's probably the way to get over the mid-life crisis. And it's in a way that inspires, leaves jaws dropped,...

Anathema Device
Society ‘disappears’ ageing women. So I harnessed that cloak of invisibility to do all sorts of ‘inappropriate’ things | Deborah Wood | The Guardia...

One of the AI content types I come across the most recently is generated images of pre photography era historical figures.

I get the compulsion, especially for figures we don't often learn about, like women and particularly women in the global south. We don't have many graphic representations of these people, and images are powerful... especially on social media.

But historic images communicate much more than an idea. They show us things about materials and craftsmanship. The things people wore meant something. These generated images give us inconsistent hallucinations about aesthetic and material pasts that never existed. At the very same time you are learning about someone and some time and some place you didn't know before, you are learning lies about those people and those places and those times that it is very difficult to unlearn.

Your memory becomes filled with associations that are wrong, which makes it harder to learn new things from accurate media.

Disinformation about the present is fucking us in a massive scale. Disinformation about the past is many orders of magnitude more dangerous. The past is how we understand the present.

Anyway, this is why reenactment is a serious discipline. And why artists who do historical reconstructions are also archivists, archeologists, anthropologists, and historians.

What's wrong with modifying free software again?

@cihuapilli @BlueDot @freemo@mastodon.acm.org @wild1145 @BobMastodon @oliphant how is this relevant to the conversation, please?

My current interpretation is that you personally have strong opinions about @freemo's attitude. Neither of this has any relationship to the rules (I welcome corrections to this interpretation). Given what I've seen, my expectation is to be also blocked for this comment. Not a problem, but this is between individuals, not a matter of instance policies.

@freemo @BlueDot @wild1145 @BobMastodon @oliphant
It's sad that when your instance grows, you need to deal with people who unable to do due diligence. Because they are ruining experience of YOUR instance users 🤦

@BlueDot

Note in my screen shots where I answered you you can clearly see hate speech is one of the rules we block for as well. So I offered you proof that debunked both claims of CSAM **and** racism, and despite that you ignored it.

Again, care to address why you are specifically spreading lies I showed you proof are incorrect and lies?

Address this and ill tell you every account thats an alt of mine you'd like to ask about.

@freemo@mastodon.acm.org @louis77 @wild1145 @SrRochardBunson @BobMastodon @oliphant @freemo@qoto.org Emacs.ch being on the <Recommended “Bare Minimum” List>, really? For a single moderation dispute with babka.social in June 2023 where we defended the rights of an Arab Jew to speak out AND resolved the issue with babka.social in consent.

Now we are considered to be on the level of pedophile, and racist instances. We run a clean and well moderated instance since Nov 2022, and mastodon.art decided that we should be in this list because they "don't like us"?

Really guys, if it weren't for the endless hours of work we put into this instance, it is our users I care about and they don't deserve to be treated like this.

@freemo@mastodon.acm.org @wild1145 @SrRochardBunson @BobMastodon @oliphant @freemo@qoto.org

> take it up with them (mastodon.art et el).

Exactly, which isn't even possible once you are blocked by them. And they don't even reply to requests via email.

That's not the spirit the Fediverse should be run on, a central authority "mastodon.art" deciding for others who is "good enough" to be federated with.

@SrRochardBunson

Actually Oliphant doesnt use his "judgement" at all. He describes the process he uses. He basically just takes a bunch of instances that have a reputation for being **very** abusive in their moderation process and doing no due dilligance and just says if your on any of those lists (following his rules) you get on his list automatically.

This process includes instances list mastodon.art with no due dilligrance.

Hi all! We have just published a new PyPI package called ✨relearn✨.
It's a starter kit for Reinforcement Learning (#RL) projects, and we have been using it for studying algorithms from Sutton and Barto, Reinforcement Learning.

Also banks: Send you messages from other obscure looking domains

@mnemonicoverload @danhon this is only one of several interpretations. From what I know about the context, it doesn't seem to be the intention.
