@TruthSandwich @gavinisdie @randahl there are still civilians inside, they should be protected even when in military bases. This is exactly the reason _both_sides_ use them as human shields

@Free_Press probably the one thing that still keeps him out of jail is him having the potential of winning the elections. So hopefully this will unravel in late 2024. Either the American people will collectively say that they don't care about election distortions (if he wins, it will not be with popular majority), Trump's violations and rule of law in general. Or they will give a sign to law enforcement that it could proceed with its duties without contradicting the inclinations of the public regarding whether the US is a law abiding country.

Just now noticed "financial flaws". Was not intended, but certainly fits well

@DemocracyMattersALot makes it even worse she's the only alternative to the grumpy old men

The other huge failure is that apparently the US is so lost in financial flaws that the whole country fails to find a better opponent to Trump than Biden. And this is regardless of how hard Biden continues to stumble at every step, literally and figuratively. The US holds on to its grumpy old men, afraid to move on to younger generations. A behaviour so typical for big money.

However, this dichotomy doesn't stand when we focus on the current war of Netanyahu vs Hamas. And this is what strongly undermines the image of the collective west. Fortunately, the failure of Biden, Macron and Scholz is very focused and is not so widespread across the free world.

First time I hear the phrase "west vs rest", but of course it is clear what stays behind it. Largely, this is a conflict between universally applicable law vs authoritarian order

As part of a new report on digital advertising as a security threat published today by @johnnyryan and me (iccl.ie/wp-content/uploads/202), and previously unreported:

We reveal 'Patternz', a global mass surveillance system that harvests digital advertising data on behalf of 'national security agencies'.

Patternz is operated by a company based in Israel and/or Singapore. It claims to collect data about 5 billion users from 87 ad exchanges and SSPs via 6 data centers around the world.

@DemocracyMattersALot well, not being able to promote any other candidates than Biden is also not one the brightest moments of the democratic party 's history. Williamson has all my respect, but it doesn't appear she has any support whatsoever from the party.

@hrefna Fediverse apps supposedly have quite prudent privacy mechanisms. I guess this is what these people are challenging. In any case, I wouldn't expect that we all agree on ethical issues. I'd say this is why it is important to publish your work in a privacy-preserving manner.

Never thought I'd see such a profound reporting on @axios

Shocking, totally unpredictable!

Vehicles with hood heights that are 40 inches or higher are 45 percent more likely to kill a pedestrian than a shorter vehicle, the report concludes.

The data comes amid an ongoing pedestrian safety crisis in the US in which fatalities are at a 40-year high and the number of pedestrians killed has increased by 80 percent since hitting a low in 2009.
