Now I understand why delivery services have a hard time finding things. Or why people often get lost when using #GoogleMaps on foot.

Whenever I catch a glimpse of #GoogleMaps, I take a closer look and go "THAT'S NOT WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE".

Capturing a triple alignment of the Basilica of Superga, Monviso mountain, and the crescent Moon took six years and five failed attempts due to bad weather. Success came recently in Piemonte, Italy, with clear skies allowing for a shot that also revealed the da Vinci glow on the Moon's surface.

Didn't get around to doing a #FreeSoftwareAdvent post yesterday, so here's today's.

Every developer reaches a breaking point with the pain of dependency management. pips, gems, npms, apts, brews, ugh. Once you hit that point, containers are the only sane way out. Enter Docker, a great idea, marred by the constraints of VC funding (hence premium subscriptions).

#Podman is the drop-in replacement so we have something to fall back on when the VC $$$ runs out.

My previous employer paid for EndNote, the current one pays for RefWorks, so working on the papers I started there is a pain, but also the new version of RefWroks is a huge downgrade.

With Zotero, anyone can download the application for free, and even have an account for collaborative reference sharing.
