Profanity
I am tempted to write a lengthy blog entry for my site just to vent about this stupid, performative fuckwit and what she said.

@mathlover @pvonhellermannn For me, this whole situation with Twitter underscores the reality that almost all activism on Twitter has been performative.
When it comes to act, no one wants to do it.

Agreed.
Granted, there *are* still many, many people who aren't moving because they haven't figured out exactly where to and how to move yet, or they use Twitter for art promotion/business/etc and haven't figured out quite how to replace it yet, or because they had a bad experience joining a badly-run instance at some point in the past, or various other reasons that will resolve with time --- but the number of people, particularly Twitter-famous ones, who are not merely uncertain about but **actively hostile** to people relocating is larger than I thought it would be.
One of the things that concerned me about my mother's relationship with Twitter was that, for a long time, she took the site seriously as a representative sample of American society at large, rather than the warped, strange, and surprisingly small platform it is. Only in the past month with Musk's mishandling of the site and her leaving in disgust has she realized just how incorrect that view was. If she ever joins the Fediverse, I think I will be her guide.

@atomicpoet @pvonhellermannn If I do give into that temptation, I'm going to either post it on my site and post a link here, or I'm going to use the wonderful power of Markdown my instance has and just post the entry here.
I have other things to do as well, however. This week is finals week.
