just like 95% of Casio digital watches are now boy-racered to the absolute nth degree, contemporary wifi routers are increasingly resembling some kind of diabolical summoning device out of a post-apocalyptic first-person shooter with lots of mutants and/or demons running around.

@deutrino So a few years ago my sister got a new WiFi set up for my parents house. I told her that she should not go with Google WiFI, but she wanted something "easy for my parents to maintain".

Fast forward to now. I have moved back in with my parents post-pandemic, and because my parents of course never learned how to do any of that, I am stuck maintaining Wi-Fi connectivity with the stripped-down, oversimplified interface that is Google WiFi's only way to control it.

I long for the diabolical summoning devices. Anything to replace that stupid white hocky puck that haunts my daily life.

Got any suggestions?

@mathlover the only ones I have recent experience with look less like summoning portals and more like vape mods :blob_laughing:

I've been using GL-inet gear exclusively for a couple years, but it's generally physically smaller and thus doesn't support lots of simultaneous streams (and doesn't have the antennas to support them). I'm not actually sure what's good for a whole-house Wifi 6/6E router. SmallNetBuilder might have insight though.
