@mzedp This is a very good point.
I still think Twitter is doomed for a variety of reasons, including legal, financial, and technical issues, but the actual user experience is not going to degrade uniformly for everyone.

Twitter is considering forcing users to let the company sell their data and phone numbers to advertisers, in potential breach of #Apple rules
#Twitter is working on plans to force some users to agree to data sharing or lose access to the app in a bid to save its ad business, according to Platformer.
Elon #Musk's platform, like #Google and #Facebook, currently allows users to opt out of personalized ads, but this option could soon disappear.

2022, like every other year, was cruel to so-called blasphemers. I wrote about how people continue to suffer under blasphemy laws and norms, and how some countries are currently trying to make it even less safe for dissenters.

Even if he hadn’t written three of the most-loved #DoctorWho stories, Chris Boucher would be a legend for just this line:
"You know, the very powerful and the very stupid have one thing in common. They don't alter their views to fit the facts. They alter the facts to fit their views, which can be uncomfortable if you happen to be one of the facts that needs altering."
RIP Chris 💙💙
Elon Musk vs Europe
"It’s likely the [staff] reductions will force Twitter to concentrate content moderation efforts on regions with stronger regulations governing social media platforms like Europe, where tech companies could face big fines under the new Digital Services Act if they don’t make an effort to combat misinformation and hate speech... “The few content moderators left are going to be focused on Europe, because Europe is the squeakiest wheel.”"

Tesla is now trading at its cheapest valuation in years.

@kairyssdal So after shadowbanning the account, he finally just banned it being the lying ass he is.
I'm not surprised.
@jk I sincerely hope not, but you never know :(
This is truly enraging.
The terrorist who killed 5 people at Club Q boasted during a 2021 bomb threat about his plans to become “the next mass killer.” Knowing this full well, authorities dropped all charges anyway and still let him keep his guns. His records were then sealed to ensure he wouldn't have to face the consequences for his threats to terrorism.
Meanwhile, Tamir Rice played with a toy gun and authorities killed him in 1.7 seconds because they "feared for their lives."

I'm not saying there are a lot of viral infections going around right now, but when the NY Times feels the need to publish a list of symptoms so you can figure out which of four illnesses you have, that might be saying something.
The rate of COVID positive testing is at its highest point in three months in the US. The US rate of flu hospitalization is up 50 to 100% in the past two weeks across all age groups. Masks on to protect yourself and your family this holiday season!
