The Council focused on Online Safety and Harassment, Human and Digital Rights, Suicide Prevention and Mental Health, Child Sexual Exploitation, and Dehumanization on Twitter.

Just remembering how Jack Kirby was inundated by threats and complaints from Nazi sympathizers after the publication in 1941 of his famous cover showing Captain America punching Adolph Hitler.

No reason.

Musk's comments have this insidious nature where they suggest that people who work in this field must surrender their humanity. They should not have public feelings or make public comments. They should not be engaged politically. Otherwise, they are biased. This chain of thoughts dehumanizes us.

Musk is throwing Roth to a pack of uneducated wolves, and will shrug his shoulders if something bad happens. Unacceptable.

I've been on #Mastodon just over a month. I genuinely did not anticipate how incredibly high the level of *useful* engagement from great people would be. Absolutely fascinating. Thanks. -L

We've ditched Twitter.

No big loss really, as our engagement dropped off a cliff when we began posting bilingual content.

We're a mega busy team of volunteers, who don't have much time to post. But we might try and do something a bit different here.

Let's see how it goes.

Anyone can install and self-host WordPress.

No one, except Elon Musk, can install and self-host Twitter.

Twitter is just a publisher.

@ariadne a lot of admins overly use suspensions when they should be using silences... And the lack of transparency in this stuff is why I've generally been questioning whether it would be better to start my own tiny instance just for myself to avoid this bullshit entirely

Looks like the Muskrat is scared of the social media Elephant in the room. He's suspending or shadowbanning accounts that are posting links or even mentioning the Elephant place on Turdsite. LOL Guess getting booed off stage really set him off.

Experimented with reach on Twitter vs Mastodon by sending the same “canary” post on both platforms. I saw about the same engagement on both, despite having 4% the followers here.

Feels like the value of Twitter’s network is overestimated. If you’ve been there 10+ years, I bet most of your followers are inactive, and it’s harder than ever to get your tweets viewed because of the algorithmic timeline. Mastodon might be at the point where it delivers the same value. At least in my circles.
