I’m enjoying Mastodon more than Twitter.

Humans can be fallible, violence prone, dangerous to themselves, other species and the world, true.
But humans can also cooperate, achieve amazing feats, and even save the planet from devastation.
I considered this when I heard that 70 years after the first use of atomic fusion, humans have achieved *ignition* at the Lawrence Livermore Lab. That means more energy was produced from a fusion reaction than was used to power it. We have a long way to go, but this is a huge milestone! #Hope #Fusion

I don't know exactly how I'll be using Mastodon just yet, but here's an intro: Hi, I'm Celeste! Just a general note of advice: if you've been convicted of a federal crime for trying to extort/DDoS a media website to get it to take down an article about an older crime you were convicted of... maybe don't then contact another website that reported on your arrest for the DDoS extortion, and try to get them to remove their article about you claiming it's false.

Big Tech's self-dealing and walled gardens are a big part of the reason it has been hard for open source, federated, and decentralized alternative social media networks like #mastodon to grow and compete with the corporate giants.

#AICOA and #OAMA won't magically fix that overnight, but they'll put us on a path where alternatives like #mastodon, #matrix, etc can compete on a more level playing field and eventually surpass or replace companies like Meta, Twitter, YouTube, etc
