@solderandchaos a few years ago the Hushcon conference bought a crate of pagers and designed Wifi radio boards for them. easier (and more legal?) than making a POCSAG radio network.

@th @solderandchaos to cover a whole campsite or conference center with low-throughput text communication that can be received by very low-power devices, Lora is probably more useful than Wifi. Can be used in a license-free 433/868/915 MHz or 2.4 GHz band, and any band you can get a license for between 150 MHz and 1 GHz (with the SX126x chips).
