Standard Social Media Platforms are scary AF for queer people. One wrong button press and your contacts are synced and you alt account will now be advertised to people who shouldn't know about it.

Snapchat is especially bad. I didn't sync contacts but because others who had my number which I used to sign up did, everyone knew about my new account. Within 10 minutes the first people asked about it, it was devastating.
Such practices should be forbidden.

@sad_electronics mobile OS should have had the option to share only parts (or none, or fake ones) of our contacts, without any way for apps to discover how much you share or not. This should have been a core feature from day one. But developers pay only lip service to privacy, so here we are. 😔

@miermont @sad_electronics on android a work profile is a great workaround that can kind of accomplish this but you only get two separate profiles, so all of your untrusted apps will share the same reduced or fake contact set or shared storage etc.
