@RickiTarr I'm French. It's 60% cultural and 60% personal preferences, with some conflict between the two.

Don't read my toots if you're easily offended. My favorite American comedy is Ghost World (2001).

@freeschool @gabriel thanks for sharing.

It's an interesting topic as I only recently realized the brilliance of the free association between Fediverse servers. I imagine that as big servers join in, they'll get blocked if they don't have good moderation. They tend to have low standards when it comes to advertising and spam, so I expect Threads and other for-profit entities to get blocked by servers populated by people like me. Blocking 99% of the populace who loves their ads will feel elitist and lonely but won't be worse than the current state of affairs.

@freeschool @gabriel this works for me!

@freeschool hitting Play changes the Play symbol into the Pause symbol but the timer stays at 0:00 and no sound comes out.

@freeschool @gabriel same behavior. The download button in the bottom-right corner doesn't work either.

@freeschool @gabriel something's broken, I can't play this (tried Chrome and Firefox, desktop Linux editions). I can play other recordings fine (e.g. qoto.org/@freeschool/111917865).

Tony Hawk: I'd like to turn myself in for murder.

Cop: Are you Tony Hawk?

Tony Hawk: Yes.

Cop: If you're Tony Hawk where's your skateboard?

Tony Hawk, holding up a blood-soaked skateboard: It dug right into his skull. I am a monster

Cop: You look a little old to be Tony Hawk

@freeschool I was referring to those Mastodon servers that block some servers only because they don't block some other servers. For example, mastodon.art blocks qoto.org under such a pretext (mastodon.art/about). It's terrifying.

Jesus incarnates the hypocrisy of highlighting the virtuous aspects of a religion while sweeping the dark practices under the rug.

And Jesus said: "Let's block whole online communities in the name of tolerance. That will teach them m***********s."

@gregeganSF you should ask the machine how confident it is that its answer is correct. It's a popular question in the world of mushroom identification for the table.

@iddux don't read the Wikipedia article about Leonard Nimoy's interpretation of "If I Had a Hammer".

Commenter: It's time to release Gerald* back into the wild where he belongs!
Me: Why don't you release your kids?
Commenter: I don't have kids.
Me: Good for them!
