I have a soft spot for Albert Bierstadt's paintings that depict California's wilderness as he found it in the 19th century. The composition is romanticized but overall the elements of this painting - including the size of the trees - are realistic.

How to write a negative product review that people will find useful:
- don't be a dick regardless of how much they deserve it.
- give an uncommon 2-star rating that shows some nuance over the overused 1-star minimum rating.
- describe the terrible things as if they were things that some people may not mind.
- describe the great things and why you don't care so much about them.
- conclude something like "it's not for me", leading others to realize by themselves it's not for them either.

I just had a bad cold, the worst since the before times. Here's a precise timeline:
- symptoms started 2 days after infection;
- I started to feel better 7 days after infection;
- symptoms are mostly gone 9 days after infection, i.e. they lasted 7 days.

I'm an idealist. This means I have a tendency to fall in love with my models because they work so well for predicting things in a simple and systematic fashion. Then, if I'm not careful, I may end up applying them beyond their domain of applicability with disastrous results. If you too are an idealist, it's good to keep it in mind and do reality checks with independent actors.

For example, don't make a big purchase without checking if others see any obvious problem with it.

This is why I never bought a pinball machine.

Selling physical artworks makes no sense if you compare it to the software industry or even to real estate investing where most profits come in the form of rent, not ownership transfer. Leasing artworks instead of selling them appears to be the logical solution but it's not very practical yet. I'm looking for ways to standardize this practice. One aspect would be to use a well-known, battle-tested lease contract similar to the well-known free software licenses (GPL, BSD, ...). Any pointers or suggestions? I want to end artist exploitation.
