Now I don't much know why we honk so much but it's just very normal for here, we maybe just talk through our horns. Also the population density is very high as well as the number of two wheelers which are the main honkers probably.
Mumbai Police did a fun little experiment where they fitted sensors in some traffic lights which would increase the duration of the red light by 10 seconds the moments it detects an useless honk. Drivers had to wait 30 minites at the traffic light till they learnt it
