I am listening to Ninda Noyana Handawe
Sinhala is an Indo-Aryan language though in listening it sounds very different from all North Indian languages.
@mur2501 Damn it's one of my favorite songs!
I don't know much about linguistics, but yeah Sinhala sounds a little different most of Indian languages.
@seek
I also liked Sinhala way of songs🤔
Sinhala diverged from Prakrit very early in time (atleast before 3rd BCE) and has developed kinda independently since then as Sri Lanka doesn't had direct contact with the other Indo-Aryan languages, rather the Dravidian languages influenced Sinhala and we get the result of today.
@seek
Also very importantly Sinhala was never influenced by Persian unlike the North Indian languages.
@mur2501 you seems to know about languages too! Are you into language?
@seek
I am into everything that interests me.
Languages are one of them.
Hence I like to listen music and songs in different languages as well as research about them.
@mur2501 cool! sounds interesting! I like to listen to music from different languages but didn't try to research anything.
@seek
There is a nice story and link behind and between everything. Discovery shall be our driving force ![]()
