How come a certain programming language alone be harmful? 🤔

@seek do you mean why is it bad to know only one programming language

@freemo No no I have heard (and called) javascript the evil's language, but I kind of didn't understand why.
It's just an example btw.

@seek @freemo
As an assembler pussy I find all high level languages as evil :blobcatgooglyshrug:

@mur2501 @freemo But I don't understand why??
Isn't it like saying French or English is evil?

@seek @freemo
Programming languages are very different from natural spoken human languages with just few general similarities.
You can understand the reality beyond the curtain of abstraction by studying about compilers and interpreters :blobcatgoogly:

@seek @freemo
Most books about compiler design and computer architecture are textbooks so are very mathematically heavy for you (Don't want to make you shit your pants while reading them)

This tutorial is kinda good and more learner friendly

@mur2501 @freemo HAHA cool! thanks, but anyway I learned freaking combined maths for three fucking years.

@mur2501

That looks easy, are the numbers lengths or angles? i presume lengths.

@seek

Follow

@freemo
They are the lengths of the perpendicular distances of the parallel sides of the hexagon
@seek

@mur2501

not something i could do in my head.. but at first glance I think i can see the steps to solve it.. doesnt look too hard. Just slide the two angled semi-horizontal lines so they meet at the joint on the right (possible since their sides are parallel) and then you form a triangle with one angle known and two lengths. You can then find the other side and from there its easy to find the rest of the shapes created.

@seek

@freemo @seek
Can you draw it what you are stating there, I can't properly imagine it.
Original intended method for solving is rather much more complex

@mur2501 @freemo can you give me a hint? do we have to do any constructions?

@seek
In the method I know, yes there is additional construction

@freemo

@mur2501

Here ya go, just slide those lines over, their length and angles wont change, and now its all very simple to solve one triangle at a time

@seek

@freemo @seek
That's cool, but how are you suppose to find the values of alpha, beta and gamma in this??

@mur2501

All the labeled angles and sides are directly inferred/known.. a+b is 90 degreesb+c is 90, all other angles on either side of the internal lines are 90, and the others are given lengths (the greeks).. from there is all just simple trig more or less.

@seek

@freemo
I don't think you can find them with simple trigonometry :blobfoxthinking:
@seek

@mur2501

I havent worked it out to the end, but its hard to see why not once you transform it in the way I illustrated. everything left are rectangles and triangles with more than enough sides given to solve them all...

@seek

@mur2501

I have a feeling this is going to be several times more complicated than it needs to be.

@seek

@mur2501

Ok that wasnt really that much more complicated, but not the way I would have done it.. not sure mine is any easier though, probably same complexity.

@seek

@mur2501 @freemo ooohhhww there was some work to do eh. Crap I could only prove the congruency so far 😆, you were right my math sucks.

@mur2501 @freemo BTW nice channel, I subscribed and will practice some more stuff like this. Brain is full of rust.

@seek

Was I supposed to be solving the geometry problem... I just wanted to point out how to solve it for seek, I wasnt working on getting the final answer (though should not be hard to go from the hint I gave to the final answer).

@mur2501

@freemo @mur2501 I didn't even know I could customize the diagram like that 😆 btw this is my progress so far.

had to redraw this few times because I messed up

@mur2501 @freemo dude this is geometry we didn't have geometry in our syllabus. But let me give it a try.

@seek @freemo
No Geometry in 3 years of maths?
Then what did you had in maths?
