The only truly useful thing to come out of the UML craze was sequence diagrams. I tend to use them a lot in technical documentation. That said, there are some other diagrams that are useful as well.

Now, can someone explain to me why the UML spec requires thousands of pages, including the metamodel which feels rather useless. The important parts of UML can be described in a couple of blog posts.
