Top Gun: Maverick Spoilers / Plot Holes
Why did the admiral have to come cancel the program in person?
Why didn't they just do the whole mission with cruise missiles or high-altitude bombs?
Wouldn't this mission be a blatant act of war?
Why did two of the F-18s have two crewmembers while the other two had one?
Are the key messages "motorcycle helmets are for losers" and "if only the Pentagon had a budget large enough to keep up with foreign technology"?
Why did the F-14 only have enough bullets to fire its guns for like four seconds?
Do ... do they think we never saw Star Wars?
I guess we have to give them points for giving Maverick an age-appropriate love interest.
Those are my initial reactions. Now I'll go watch the Honest Trailer.
Spoiler /tech response
@peterdrake just one point on the number of bullets on the F-14. It has a rotary cannon like the A-10, though it's 20mm instead of 30 caliber (M61A1, inherited from the F-104, F-105 and F-4E jets of the USAF). What this means is it can shoot literally a thousand bullets per second. Afaik the magazines only have space for 2000 or so bullets. Meaning the issue was Maverick's trigger discipline. 🤷
