Do dogs get into staring contests with you the way cats do? I swear I try to out-stare my cats at least a half dozen times every day (I never win)
@shauna Not really. Some dogs do eye contact with some people, but mostly prolonged eye contact (especially between two dogs) makes dogs uncomfortable and means upcoming conflict.

@trystimuli @shauna My previous dog thought eye contact with humans was undogly. The current one will stare us down for treats, working the puppy-dog eyes as hard as she can.
@peterdrake @trystimuli Maybe 5% of the time my cat is trying to stare me into giving her dinner, but mostly she seems to just...want to look at me. Unblinkingly. Indefinitely.
