Also moving from Spotify to YouTube Music. Yes, this is trading one corporation for another, but apparently YouTube pays their artists somewhat better.

Anyhoo, I moved over my legendary fire dancing playlist.

"There's a whole crowd of people out there who need to learn how to work with sklearn."

Saw a truck with the license plate RADIX 1. Are they advocating for unary numbers?

If you liked the web better in the 1990s, the fediverse is the place for you!

Everything takes longer than you think it will. Except eating dessert.

I asked the players in my upcoming space campaign to tell me about their ship. One suggested a converted wet navy freighter, echoing the Yamato. I proposed a , which would open up the possibility of underwater adventures. Of course, since "down" would now be the stern of the ship rather than the ventral side, some interior redecoration is in order...

Naturally, @nyrath has already passed through this territory:

@DaveOfThings @DaveOfThings@mastodon.technology @thomas_oe (Changed the previous post to unlisted, because if it showed up on public timelines I suspect all three of us would get bombarded.)

@undefined @DaveOfThings @DaveOfThings@mastodon.technology @thomas_oe Apparently some other servers are not happy with qoto's federating with problematic servers, so they're not federating with qoto.

I'm not aware of anything I'm missing out on as a result, but I have been bombarded by groups of nazis twice in the last week. (By, "nazis", I don't mean "people I disagree with politically" but "people who literally put swastikas in their profiles".) I blocked these "griefer" servers, but if this keeps happening I might also move.

The Harmony Ridge Trestle railroad built in 1910 collapsed due to a fire - Texas, 23/05/2013

Faced with the choice of

- fighting through a pile of poorly-documented, unstable software, or
- fighting through all of that *plus* seven layers of capitalism (do you have a license? here's an ad! do you have a deluxe license? can you prove it? you won't believe what's on the other end of this link! here's another ad! AD!),

... I'm starting to feel the pull of FOSS.

Looking at headlamps for my disaster preparedness kit. Sure, you can have 350 lumens, but 100000 lumens will make things go faster because anyone you're trying to rescue will be instantly incinerated by the beam.

@freemo Weird bonus: *my* markdown bullets work, but not the ones in the aforementioned post from mstdn.social. 🤷‍♂️

@anathem @Gargron Yeah, it looks like the "embed code" feature on Google Sites mangles it beyond recognition.

@freemo Two more display problems:

- Bullets from markdown lists don't appear (Firefox or Tusky)
- Banner in profile is partially cut off (Firefox)

This seems to be a qoto thing, because (for example) this toot and the user's profile look correct when viewed from their own instance:

One of my current quests is for resources to help non-IT folks become better at defining system #requirements and #UAT #test scenarios. It seems like there must be something out there, but the correct buzzwords are eluding me.

A good resource would probably consider things like:

Primer on testing vocabulary / methods
How do you know your tests cover the full problem space? And with the fewest possible tests?
How do you know when you have tested enough?
