@cstross @pnh Wait -- does Stross think @VoxDei is the "Christian nationalist" Theodore Robert Beale?!

I don't know this person, but it's apparent from his feed that he's not:

On a related note, a minute browsing the @QOTO feed will make it clear that it's not a "puppy hang-out":

(FWIW, I'm not a qoto die-hard. I just landed here when I came to Mastodon pre-Elongate because it's a STEM instance. What Stross is saying doesn't reflect what I've seen here.)

Enjoy this short clip of the raccoon that is currently trying to catch snowflakes on my deck. 🦝 ❄️

Electrifying the US postal service fleet as we replace the old trucks we've been using for decades was an obvious win if we could make it happen. Its now happening!

@freemo @QOTO Interesting.

I've currently got many people and hashtags in Home, then a few (mainly people I know IRL) in a list called "inner circle". If I want to be involved in the conversations of my inner circle, does this mean I should do it the other way around? (Will someone know if I put them in a list without following them?)

Is the answer qoto-specific? Is it likely to change? Moving hundreds of the people I follow to on-a-list-but-not-followed would be a huge hassle and seems a bit backward.

Spoiler?

@ZachWeinersmith What do you mean by "what sort"? I saw in a second (comparing a couple of entries) that it was symmetric, but is there more to it?

I've got some people I follow. I'd like to see ALL of their (public or unlisted) replies, even to people I don't follow, so I can potentially be involved in those conversations.

It looks like (at least on @QOTO) this doesn't happen with the notification bell. Even if I put someone on a list, the most I can see is their replies to other people I follow.

Is there a way to do this?

@freemo

@PerfectSerenad3 I'm slowly learning to draw and deliberately avoiding digital tools. As a computer scientist during a pandemic, my screen time is terrifying.

(... he posted online. 😬 )

If you are having discussions in your spaces regarding and - maybe this slide deck can help. I have assembled a bunch of resources in a pretty decent structure. As I find things, they get added - time to get those chats started!

@Pat No, your names are correct. I was just remembering my imagined particles.

@juliacreatesjoy I'm pretty sure my hair is better than my art at this point, but I'm working on it!

@Pat I've designed a few space combat games involving electrino beams and poton torpedoes.

@godlessmom For me, the key point is that you can't PAY to put your advertising into the eyeballs of people who don't want it.

1. Got jury duty deferred until after spring commencement.
2. The post office line, though long, moved quickly.
3. We might have just barely resolved our staffing issues for next semester.

Listen. Americans. Your pledge is weird and there’s not a single person outside of the US who will disagree with me on this. Lose the flag chant, it’s giving Branch Davidian crossed with Stockholm syndrome. Just blink twice if you’re not okay.

In general you should only include your single best data point in the paper. The rest of the data can go in the supplementary materials.
