Lions are cowardly and cats are scaredy, but what are they afraid of? Aren't they apex predators? Who eats cats?

Ten years from now you’ll put on a jacket and find a mask in the pocket. “Oh man, what a weird year that was,” you’ll chuckle to yourself. Then you’ll pick up your machete and continue across the wasteland, keeping to the shadows to avoid the roving gangs of cannibal raiders.

I can finally cross this off my "to-do" list.

Yes, my personal work planning @trello board has a list called "Overmorrow". What of it?

As we prepare for #MineralMonth, does anyone know of any good documentaries on the subject?

In 2020, the presidential candidate who won by 7 million votes got 306 Electoral College votes. In 2016, the presidential candidate who lost by 3 million votes got 306 Electoral College votes. This system is broken. We must abolish the Electoral College.

By popular demand, I'll be running the fireknife card game again online tomorrow (Dec 29) at 4 PM Pacific (2 PM Hawaii). Send me your email address if you want in.

I found them.

The Frosted Mega Wheats.

I'd like to propose a Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective set by @malki (of @wondermarkfeed fame). The crimes would be deeply strange and, once you found the perp, they would confess in great and shameless detail.

It's surprising that Dune does FTL by folding space and not, y'know, wormholes.

Almost all computer problems are solved by some variant of "turn it off and back on again".

One thing I learned studying law is that a lot of what people do every day is illegal and much of our ability to live in society is predicated on the discretionary non-application of laws.

Some Republicans are planning to challenge Electoral College vote. Did the Democrats do the same thing in 2004? Not really. https://www.cnn.com/2020/12/27/politics/electoral-college-objection-bush-boxer/index.html

We beat the final mission in The Crew: The Quest for Planet Nine, a clever co-op trick taking game. The dummy player for the 2-player version works well. I imagine it would be a very different game with more human players.

We have decreed that January will be #MineralMonth!

I'm eager to try some #ungrading, but worried that students will (rationally) shift their time and effort to their other courses.

I'm ready to push the English/Samoan bilingual edition of my card game about fireknife dancing into reality. Watch the drama unfold on @BoardGameGeek:

A D&D campaign where, after years of killing monsters and taking their stuff, the PCs realize dungeon crawling is just colonialism, so they switch sides and start fighting FOR the underdark, but then realize it's become a white savior story.
