Happy Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month!
To celebrate, I'm giving away a copy of my card game Siva Afi: The Fireknife Dance of Samoa.

Boost to be entered in the drawing.
I'd also be interested in meeting any other fire dancers on Mastodon.
PSA: To everyone who is #NewHere, and those who are not.
When you use hashtags it can help those using a #ScreenReader to use #CamelCase. Screen-readers can then find and pronounce the constituent words, rather than trying to pronounce the whole thing.
It's not essential, but it's one way we can make the Fediverse more welcoming.
@kreyren Every line is indented by 8 spaces, but you can vary the font size of the spaces.
Did you see the news that all of the #JWST instruments are aligned now?
Check out this comparison of one of the newly released calibration images from the MIRI instrument compared to images taken of the same region of space by the WISE and Spitzer space telescopes! Look at that resolution! So many newly resolved stars and structures! 🤩
I can't wait for all the new discoveries we'll make with JWST! #Science data starts in only a couple months!

I have encountered more image descriptions on Mastodon in 24 hours than I have in Twitter in a couple of years. Seriously. I'm not exaggerating.
As a blind person, this means a lot to me. If you read this and you describe your images, thank you so, so, so much on behalf of all of us. If you don't, now you know you'll be helping random Internet strangers make sense of your posts by typing in a few more words than usual.
@yaelwrites reminds me of Kim Mok's manifesto manifesto https://www.kimmok.com/#/the-manifesto-manifesto/
@FailForward @users I presume so, but what happened in Dec-May?

@heydrdj I've gone all in, as is my wont. Students generally like it, finding it much less stressful.
I haven't noticed much change in the final grade distribution. Only a few students underrate themselves and fewer overrate.
It is important to have a verification that things were turned in, if only so you have something to look back at when considering final grades.
I still struggle with the question of deadlines; I want to give slack out of compassion (and to avoid agonizing about excuses for things being a couple of days late), but to much gives students room to get themselves into trouble.
@jmerchen I like it. It touches on most of the key points. Also relevant is Diaspora, which is written for a slightly earlier version of FATE (but might get a second edition someday).
