A situation arose where it was fortunate that I had my hot dog costume with me.

@worldsendless I can't cite any evidence, but it seems like there are many situations where you want to do something only if a value is not zero or empty. Certainly you often want to check if x == null before you try to access x's fields or methods.

1. Student stayed after class to work on the bonus challenge problem because she loves coding.
2. Epic jack-o'-lantern moon seen through the trees.
3. Getting to bed at a reasonable hour.

i would care more about #foss if its leaders cared more about marginalized voices.

richard stallman -- brought back into the free software foundation despite being a sexual abuser

the ridiculousness about people wanting to rename the gnu image minuplation program, and the harassment received by the creators of glimpse

the, from what i hear, atrocious accessibility tools of the various linux desktop experiences

even eugen seems to have a habit of disregarding users' reqeusts for a more secure mastodon, most notably the half-baked account migration feature. not to even get started on how the moderators of mastodon.social were treated

it sucks, it's disillusioning, and i honestly won't be able to take any FOSS advocate seriously until these structural problems are actually addressed.

"but x project is nice" yeah i don't care. the rest of the bad apples spoil the whole bunch in my eyes

My favorite fact about Angela Lansbury is that during her MURDER SHE WROTE era she made it a practice to hire guest actors of the golden age that had aged out of the game because it allowed them to earn the union points they needed for insurance, pensions, etc.

1. Saw three dogs in the space of about a minute walking between classes.
2. Discovered refactoring.guru/design-patter, which will probably suffice for explaining these patterns to Software Development next semester.
3. My LED knife may just need a good charging.

@trinsec It's poorly distributed in both space and time. Climate change makes this worse, because it accelerates the processes that move water from dry places to wet places.

Overheard:

A mattress is a wireless charger for a human.

A vanilla soy latte is three bean soup.

Bummer -- after a continued absence of rain, the burn ban is back on, so we're doing a glow show this Friday.

In mid-October.

Thanks, ExxonMobil!

@worldsendless 0 is false -- it's the only number that is.

I don't know that it's as much compatibility as letting programmers say "if x" rather than "if x != 0", "if data" rather than "if len(data) > 0", etc.

@worldsendless Any number but 0 is true. Any list / tuple / set / dictionary / string but the empty one is true.
