@goodblue I'm bothered by the subheadline asserting that the sick leave "amendment failed due to opposition from Republicans and Joe Manchin", but then:

"The "no" votes on the sick leave measure included 42 Republicans and Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va. Most Democrats voted "yes," joined by six Republicans: Sens. Mike Braun of Indiana, Ted Cruz of Texas, Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, Josh Hawley of Missouri, John Kennedy of Louisiana and Marco Rubio of Florida."

1) Manchin is not the problem. Republicans are the problem, but we just take it for granted that they'll vote for evil.

2) WTF, Manchin lost the moral high ground to Ted Cruz?!

3) What's to prevent rail workers from just quitting en masse? (I mean, capitalism, obviously, but still.)

@thezerobit What's the legitimately bad behavior? Nobody seems to have any receipts.

@mj12games Hmm, tough call. I'm gonna go with squares, so I can get my fingers in between them in crowded battles.

The rectangular counters seen in wet navy games have a certain appeal, too, depending on the shape of the ship.

An advantage of automatically generating your counters from Blender or whatever is that you might be able to automate providing a vast variety of livery, hull numbers, etc.

@mj12games I would buy a huge set of thick, die-cut counters. Much cheaper, faster, and easier to store than miniatures, like Pathfinder's pawns or BattleTech's standees.

While I'm starting fights: every single post I've seen about how kind and nice and civil mastodon is has been from a white person. Meanwhile Black people are like "yeah I signed in and spent the first three days blocking servers of people flooding me with racial slurs. I had to move instances 4 times after getting banned for talking back to someone calling me n*****. Hope this one works out better."

me, writing academic emails after reading #JaneAusten:

“My dear Dr. Dashwood—

I trust that you and your graduate students remain in good health. Praise for your latest article is on everyone’s lips. I have not the smallest wish to vex you, but circumstances compel me to trouble you for a meeting. There is not a moment to be lost. I flatter myself that you will endeavour to fill out this Whenisgood poll before Michaelmas.

Your humble servant—

Here's hoping that #Oregon passes this new #ebike incentive. I would like for this to also provide an incentive for regular #bikes because they are even better for the #environment but this is a positive step forward for #sustainability.

@dyedgrey You can subscribe to people there, but you can't follow them or (if I understand correctly) have conversations with them.

1. Connected someone who needed help with someone who could provide it.
2. Was handed the tool I needed minutes before I needed it.
3. Thunder while students filled out course evaluations (hopefully not an omen).

Wizardzines print version has arrived today! 🥰

I expected a decent print but I didn't expect it to be this good, it's super smooth and can't stop rubbing it on my cheek, the color quality is perfect too. Plus I also got some cute stickers :ablobcathappypaws:
