Bird peril
This little bird flew into a sliding glass door and probably only survived because a screen cushioned the impact. It's just gonna rest here a few minutes.
I've started work on Cascadia 9.2, the third of our earthquake preparedness video games. If you're interested in seeing how the sausage is made, tune in to the PIGSquad Discord (http://discord.gg/pigsquad) at 1 PM Pacific on Monday, October 16. I plan to go for a couple of hours until I'm at a good stopping point.

@olivvybee Someone (can't remember who) defined game play as "overcoming unnecessary obstacles". If you want to get that golf ball in the hole, why not just put it there instead of hitting it with a bent stick? If you want to connect all your cities in Ticket to Ride, why wait your turn or insist on playing the right cards?
@Flash Carnation used to sell "Instant Breakfast"; I thought, "That's too slow -- I want retroactive breakfast!"
Is bikini the singular of bikinii or the plural of bikinus?
Why doesn't "tortilla" rhyme with "Godzilla"?

I love Hugh Jackman.

@kass@chaosfem.tw @kelidanovus Terry Pratchett and Lois McMaster Bujold were also addressing these issues in the 1990s in ways that seem (to me, a cishet man) to have aged well. I'd be curious to hear the trans community's take.

the funniest thing in the Apple is the last version of MacOS features "video reactions" where if your camera sees you do a thumbs up or heart symbol with your hands, stuff happens behind you like fireworks in ANY video app you are using BY DEFAULT.
A friend was in an online therapy session, describing his trauma so the therapist asked if he was alright and he did a thumbs up and then HUGE FIREWORKS BEHIND HIS HEAD.
It's so bad that online therapy sessions now start with a warning dialog!
