I was waiting to shoot the rise of a supermoon when the clouds rolled in a ruined the spectacle. Instead of the moon crowning the tip of the Bay Bridge, a flock of pelicans passed over it, in perfect formation mimicking the shape of the bridge.

In a Mediaite article about Twitter’s recent suspensions of journalists, conservative writer Isaac Schorr seems to have read the Twitter account ’@joinmastodon’ as "John Mastodon".

With zero fact-checking and a vivid imagination he then goes as far to write that John Mastodon is ”the founder of a competing social media company named after himself”.

So many wrongs in a single sentence!

Mandala is a beautiful two-player game that I am absolutely terrible at playing. When I happen to win, as I did here, it's pure luck. I ended this particular game on accident by placing green in my last river spot. We each made a few more plays before anyone noticed it was over. Oops.

Birthday celebrations continue with the Semi Heist scenario of Fast & Furious: Highway Heist. I continue to be impressed by how cinematic and fun the game play feels!

We played Roman in the Street Drifter and Brian in the Import Racer for their fully powered athletics and free leaps, shakes, and movement. We didn't pull off any of the stunts provided, but there was gratuitous driving underneath the semi as well as an ill-timed jacknife at one point. Vrooom!

I’m looking for a new board game that’s beautiful, strategic, symmetrical, engine building, intuitive, 2-4 players. More complicated than Azul. Like Wingspan or Ticket to Ride but slightly more involved. Lots of choices and flexibility i.e. no cards that say “Now you have to go do x boring task that subverts your larger engrossing obsessive focus on the overarching goal of the game.”
