Men at Work is a dexterity game that I think I like watching more than I like playing.

I've only played it about half a dozen times. Every time it has ended not because someone collected sufficient Employee of the Month points, but because everyone else loses their safety certificates. Thinking back, I'm not sure I've seen anyone survive long enough to earn Employee of the Month...

*teammate reports a bug*

Hmm, that doesn't happen on my machine. Have you pulled the latest version of main? Yes?

What's commit number are you on? Yes, that's the one I'm on.

Do either of us have any unstaged changes? No?

Other teammate, does this happen for you? No? Okay, it's just the one person.

Try restarting Unity.

Reboot your computer.

Okay, delete the entire repository, re-clone it, and open that in Unity.

THAT fixed it.

Spent the day at a beautiful non-binary wedding, and had an incredible conversation with a 94-year-old grandmother who confidently told me "even in my day gender was bollocks" so that's reassuring.

Reminder that the only safe dummy domains to use are:

- example.com
- example.net
- example.org
- example.edu

And nowadays there's also a safe dummy TLD: .example

These are safe because they are reserved by IANA as as special-use domain names for documentation purposes.

Any other domain can be registered and as such should _never_ be used as a dummy domain for documentation or as eg. an example in default configs.

See: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Example.

I am absolutely gobsmacked by the journalistic achievement that @mozilla pulled off with their mental health, prayer, and lifestyle app audit.

Highly worth a read if you are like me and live in the orbit of these trendy app-based therapy services.

Just watched an ACM webcast on teaching computer science with tools like Copilot.

The profession of software development isn't about to go away, but it's going to change rapidly. What we teach may also need to change (just as we no longer spend much time on assembly language).

I am concerned that we may be on a path to paying a corporation to use stolen code (and burn a bunch of carbon) to solve our problems.

1. The US murder rate is down an 12% year-to-date, based on 90 cities that have released data.

If the trend holds it will be the single largest annual decline in the murder rate ever recorded.

And yet, you probably haven't heard anything about it.

If you are a white leftist and you talk “both parties are the same they are both capitalist” you will loose most of your black audience. I think it ought to be obvious that this isn’t because blackfolks love Democrats (in most cases, there is always someone being simple in any group) —no. it’s because the difference between the parties is material and obvious and these are unstable times.

When I hear such talk I wonder if the speaker is working on voter suppression.

Flying pigs are supposed to be the epitome of the impossible, and yet the grocery store is careful to specify that this is ground pork.

Q: When the Cylons come to Earth, what town do they live in?

A: Towcester.

INTERNET YELLOW PAGES

Disappointed that the internet does not provide a single video of "Flight of the Bumblebee" being sung by a turkey.

Y'all'll have to settle for this a cappella version.
