One of the world's very strangest volcanoes, and easily one of my favorites is Kawah Ijen in Indonesia. These photos of lava are not color enhanced or photoshoped, the lava from Kawah Ijen is just that beautiful electric blue color. The lava is an incredible blue due to an extremely high sulfur content--because sulfur burns blue.

In normal volcanoes, you can sometimes catch the blue tint of volcanic gasses betraying the presence of sulfur coming into contact with oxygen, but at this volcano there is so much sulfur in the lava and air that it appears blue, and spits blue flames.

The crater during non eruptive periods is a sulfur mine, and you can find massive nearly pure sulfur crystals there. The crater lake of Ijen is enormously toxic and the sulfuric gasses in the crater can kill.

*SPOILERS* I just saw Oppenheimer, and I am appalled by the number of historical inaccuracies in it:

1. Oppenheimer only spoke in the third person. In the movie he says "I'm hankering for a ham sandwich, when he should have said "Oppenheimer is hankering for a ham sandwich".

2. Oppenheimer had a severe phobia of chairs. Yet the film confusingly shows Oppenheimer sitting in numerous chairs without screeching or sobbing.

3. Oppenheimer was married to John Wayne, but no mention of this is made.

My second game of Ogre against @htdrake was a rout. I could take credit for hanging back and then charging in at the right moment, but it really came down to her traditional appalling dice-rolling. I took out 3 heavy tanks, a missile tank, and 4 GEVs before I got within missile range of the command post. She got 4 hits the entire game.

She will undoubtedly do better at Ohanami and Oceans.

@peterdrake Unity’s project browser uses a custom function called EditorUtility.NaturalCompare() which tries to do “human like” sorting. I’d tell you more but the implementation is on the native side 🙃

It's a common practice in Unity to start the name of a scene, prefab, etc. with an underscore so it will be listed first in the project window.

This is because things are sorted lexicographically and underscores come before letters in ASCII, right?

Well, no.

So what the heck is Unity using to sort things? Did they ... did they really add the underscore as a special case?

The number of Black people that were legally eligible to vote in 2016, but that were illegally prevented from voting, was larger than the entire margin of victory for Trump. But we don't like to talk about that. 🤷🏿‍♂️

People who know that their family members are racist for a long time, pretend that they only started being racist after Cambridge Analytica. That's a lie.

Trump gave people who were racist inside the house permission to be racist outside of the house too.

Literal sword lesbians.

This kind of brilliantly stupid shit is what I miss from the early days of the internet

Random bit of Microsoft telemetry dropped in this WSJ piece, good to know they’re tracking key presses.
