A bill making some drag shows illegal in the state of Tennessee is bringing extremist groups out of the shadows: one hung a swastika banner on a Nashville overpass today. https://www.rollingstone.com/culture/culture-features/tennessee-drag-show-law-bill-lee-1234689713/
@RollingStone Y'know, the fact that the worst people in the world think something is bad is not in any sense evidence that it isn't, y'know, bad.
@pieist @RollingStone I'm sorry, I can't parse this. Could you explain further?
@evilmicrowizard @RollingStone
Well, let's go for some trite, popular signifiers:
Hitler was a vegetarian. Hitler was evil. True or false: "vegetarianism is evil."
@pieist @RollingStone But I want an explanation about this particular occurrence and your response to it. Though there might be some strained similarities, drag isn't veganism...?
@evilmicrowizard @RollingStone
I want a pie that can make me run a four minute mile. Would that we all had what we want.
@pieist @evilmicrowizard @RollingStone The drag ban is bad for loads of other reasons. Why should there be a law criminalizing ppl wearing clothing outside of strict gender norms? The law threatens trans ppl, ppl in cosplay, theater, costumes for Renn Faire, Halloween. It's ludicrous overreach and violates freedom of expression.
@caffeneko @evilmicrowizard @RollingStone
Can't argue with that.
Still can't get past the whole "need to present my sexual expression to prepubescent children in an apparently innocuous setting" thing. Or the startling number of child sex offenders involved. Or the whole "hanging a dildo in front of my crotch while I gyrate for children in a public library" thing.
Which I'm sure you'll insist was totally unrepresentative and an isolated event unrelated to anything else.
@caffeneko @evilmicrowizard @RollingStone
But I agree that a drag ban is unprincipled. But they do need to exercise some discernment, look into the background of some of these folks and ask... why do they want to do this, why is their kink central to their desire to do this, and what is their established relationship to children?
If some actually pass that sort of scrutiny, hey, let 'em knock themselves out and read a book to kids without involving their penises. If they can.
@caffeneko @evilmicrowizard @RollingStone
Wow. You have personal knowledge of them "tucking penises away". Which contrasts interestingly with drag queen "story hour" performers doing dramatically the very opposite.
You seem disturbingly invested in this.
@That_AC @pieist @caffeneko @RollingStone Looks like the drag queen misinformation and personal attacks guy blocked me. I guess that tells us all we need to know about his argument and sources. 😏
@evilmicrowizard @pieist @caffeneko @RollingStone
Meh.
I grow weary of them claiming they are doing it to protect the children from imagined bad things while ignoring real actual harm to kids.
But then these people also seem to think "woke education" is a greater threat than gun, drugs, sexual abuse in schools.
Its almost like they just want to have a cover for their personal hatred of those who are different.
@pieist @caffeneko @evilmicrowizard @RollingStone
So... the monkey wasn't a drag queen.

Third one this month.
87th since Nov. 1st.
You imply all the drag queens are sex offenders, can you produce 3 articles about a drag queen being arrested for molesting a child?
If children were molested at Denny's as often as they are in churches, every Denny's would be burned to the ground.
Why is it you're spending time imagining stuff & doing nothing abt actual child molesters?
