There's no position I've taken in my comics that has harmed my career more than opposing the Iraq War did. Mainstream liberals joined with conservatives to support it, and if you were against it, you were an "unserious" peacenik on the outskirts.
From 2003, just before the invasion:
But Iraq 2 was clearly a stupid idea. hundreds of thousands of protestors knew it was a stupid idea, and after 20 years we now know the protestors were right.
There were no weapons of mass destruction, and overthrowing Hussein would destabilize the region.
And my god was the UN weapons inspection program a cost effective program.
