Health care in America
I was bit by a wild animal on Saturday night in Utah. I flew home to Vegas first thing in the morning and called my doctor. She prescribed me antibiotics and said she'd look into the necessity of rabies shots.
She called back some hours later and said she cannot give me the shots — I need to get them at an ER — and also they are very very expensive.
Rabies shots, which are often necessary to prevent an excruciating death, are for most people unaffordable.
@aka_quant_noir @kims I think that's in the If You Are Bitten By A Rabid Animal pamphlet: "If by good luck you're within a 24-hour drive of Canada, scurry across and claim you were bitten there."
@pieist @kims lol no doubt
