Imagine a system of government where the final arbiters of everything are a tiny group of judges with lifetime tenure, and these judges are allowed to take money from people on whose cases they rule.

@JamesGleick Seriously, there's nothing in the Constitution about the form and composition of the Supreme Court.

Triple the membership (while confining the number who sit on a given case to 11), term limit them to 8 years, and limit the pool to the third-party qualified and then you'd have something.
